Jane paints in a fairly loose, though representational style. She aims to catch character in her subject. Having studied biology and rural science to degree level the correct form of animals is important to her, so a sketch of it’s anatomy is done first, and then it’s on to the fun stuff – adding colour in interesting ways using spontaneous brush strokes. Capturing the eyes is is vital as this is what draws the viewers in to start with.
Jane often depicts the animals in motion which suits her swift brush strokes. Primarily she chooses to paint in acrylics but more recently has been using oils in some works.
